A key client of Hays Construction & Property has just registered a vacancy for a Senior Quantity Surveyor within their commercial services department, the contract duration is for 12 - 18 months and the salary is very competitive. Given the current market conditions this is a fantastic opportunity to secure yourself a position with busy organisation and gain yourself invaluable experience in a booming part of the market.
Your main duties will include - valuation and payment of monthly contractor applications, evaluation of variation orders and compensation events, evaluation of contractor Target Cost submissions, negotiation and agreement of contractor Target Costs, letting of construction contracts using EEC 3 forms of contract, post contract administration, project financial forecasting and reporting.
In order to be considered for this role you must have a recognised engineering, building or surveying qualification (minimum HND) and a drivers licence. You must also be able to demonstrate considerable experience in the preparation of financial reports and reconciliations, knowledge of contract law and contract drafting, have strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness. This role is 70% your own project work however you will also have 3 professional staff reporting in to you, prior you reporting to the Commercial Manager. You must be able to give real examples of the above skills and requirements.
Desirable skills and experience include NEC contract knowledge, Primavera exp, membership of a relevant professional body, outgoing personality and good sense of humour and positive can do attitude. Having these attributes along with good references will aid your application.
