An exciting opportunity has arisen to for a Civil/ Structural Engineer to join an established organisation based out of their office in Inverness.
Work carried out combines skills from a number of engineering disciplines and provides a resource for specialist and non-standard work the complements the work carried out by other areas of the business. The team develops innovative solutions to complex unconventional structures and challenging design problems.
The nature of their work is very wide ranging and their portfolio of projects includes, nuclear structures, decommissioning and waste management, blast, impact and vibration solutions, floating and hydraulic structures and structural investigation.
The main function of this position is:
- Support the chief engineer in developing knowledge and experience in the design and deployment of renewable marine energy related structures
- Responsible for managing technicians and graduate engineers
- take and active role in the technical input to projects or work packages as appropriate
- financial management of projects or work packages as appropriate The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge
Technical
- Good understanding of structural dynamics
- Knowledge of specific requirements for structures in a marine environment
- Knowledge of fluid structure interaction
- Understanding of requirements for remote construction and deployment of near shore structures
- Ability to assess and develop new and novel engineering concepts into constructible designs.
Other
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills, especially report writing
- Relevant degree
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
