Full Description:
The public sector has changed dramatically over recent years with many councils offering a working environment which is as challenging and commercially focused as the best private practices.
Staff retention rates are high, with employees benefiting from a rewarding workload of diverse and varied project types, but also a valuable final salary pension scheme, support of ongoing professional development, flexible working hours and 34 days annual leave (including public holidays) rising to 39 after 5 years service.
Moray Council has an immediate opportunity for a Chartered Surveyor to lead the Quantity Surveying and maintenance team, based in their Elgin headquarters. The role of Principle Quantity Surveyor reports directly to the Property Manager and will be responsible for a team of Quantity Surveyors, Building Surveyors and Clerk of works. Working alongside the Principle Architect, the appointed candidate will not only perform all tasks of a PQS for council departments and external clients but will also lead the QS and Maintenance Practice with responsibility for budgets, staff resourcing, delegation of work and supervision.
Suitable applicants will probably have a demonstrably broad range of post qualification experience ideally encompassing both capital and maintenance works. Moray Council is a forward-thinking authority and candidates with a commitment to CPD and an appetite for adopting new working practices will have an advantage.
The salary banding of £38,266 - £41,847 (plus benefits) is highly competitive and housing costs in the area are substantially lower than in many parts off the UK.
